Blogging can be both RELAXING & PROFITABLE…. VERY PROFITABLE… The one thing blogging does is allow you to speak on topics or interests that others close to you may not share. It gives you an outlet to connect with others that do want to talk about those same things.
The biggest struggle with blogging is getting your content in front of your audience. You found this amazing theme and have your blog up and running but you still are struggling with getting people to your site. Building a website and hoping for people to start flocking to it is going to leave you alone in your virtual house and defeated.
Let’s talk about how to drive more traffic to your site. When driving traffic to your blog here you need a few things first. Keywords, if WordPress the right Plugins, and most importantly GOOD CONTENT (NO EXCEPTIONS). These 3 things will keep your blog flowing and allow your readers to keep coming back. Also, it will funnel in new readers Monthly, Weekly, and even sometimes daily…
Ok, George, that’s great and all but this still doesn’t tell me how to get traffic to my site? OK so here are the 5 ways to drive more traffic to your site…
1. Find out what your audience is interested in?
Let’s say your blog is on Health & Fitness. If you’re not already in them start joining Facebook groups that are built around this topic. When people start to post questions like I’ve hit a plateau and can’t seem to lose these last 10lbs or whatever. If it’s getting a lot of responses from others experiencing the same thing build your topics around those posts. Maybe write a topic on how to BUST through a Plateau while losing weight.
Then once you have written your blog posts go and answer the question or give your two cents (Just a few sentences). Then kindly leave your link along with I just did a blog post on this check it out some of the tips I give may work for you. Then not only will the original poster see this but others who have commented or following the topic as well will. Guess what that’s organic traffic that will flow. If your content is good and engaging you may gain some new readers. Pretty cool huh?
2. Write some content on someone that’s HUGE in your industry and tweet it to them?
This practice right here is so underutilized. Celebrities who are active on twitter retweet several tweets every day. It may take several times but you only need to tweet them once. Let’s say you have a blog that content fits around current events. One of the events you discuss just so happens to be a hot topic on twitter like this #eclipse that just took place. This is a golden time to tweet when someone huge like this is around cause most celebrities are talking about it. So let’s say Mark Cuban just so happens to be that celebrity. I pick him cause Mark Cuban will retweet several mentions daily and he gets hundreds even thousands of likes, retweets, and comments.
He recently made a comment about the eclipse asking if people still think the earth is flat (LOL). So several people have tweeted him saying, Mark, I agree with you or no its square just crazy stuff like that. Well, he has been retweeting those mentions all day and they are getting tons of likes. So if you have a blog topic based on that event create a bit.ly link or just use your blog posts after writing out. Tweet at him & multiple other celebrities with a link at the end and see if you get a retweet. Again this may seem like it is a long shot and it very well could be but imagine your tweet along with your blog link getting retweeted to millions of people. Your website traffic would be EPIC!!!!
3. Blog commenting on other blogs
This right here will help you in more ways than one. If you are not a follower of other blogs then why are you blogging. I love reading other peoples blog either in my niche or even something I have interest in but never blog about. These are the best times to interact with your other blogger counterparts. So say for example one of my favorite bloggers is Cicely Bougie Black Blogger. Her blog is more of a lifestyle blog and her topics are based around many different topics regarding lifestyle and current events.
When I go and read her blog posts maybe I would comment on the topic and put my website link at the end of my comment. Like a signature so to speak. By doing this it builds a backlink which allows you to get some rankings from search engines that crawl her site and pick up your website link. It also gives her the opportunity to see your comment and check out your blog. Not only that but some of her readers may do the same thing. Now, this can be a touchy thing for some bloggers some may not like this. You know that’s ok but it can work wonders for those who don’t mind and also allow you to counter rank from the backlink. This can also work really well on Forums, Social Media Posts, and other sites where you leave reviews or comments. Never miss out on a chance to post your link and always and I mean always include it in your bio on these sites as well so people who visit your profiles have the opportunity to check out your work.
4. Guest Blogging
This is also a great way to network with other bloggers and get introduced to their audiences. Bloggers like myself sometimes get writer’s block or just uninspired. This happens more times than not and can cause your traffic to go cold. You always want to make sure to post at the very least 4 times a week when starting out to build up traffic. Guest blogging is basically where you write blog posts for someone else’s blog. This may be a post related to your blog topics or with theirs. So lets say your blog is more of a Health & Wellness blog and you get invited to write for a FOODIE BLOG.
You may write a topic on food however with a health style twist. Maybe making vegan or organic foods taste good. Something along those lines depending on the direction you want to go. Doing this will allow their viewers to get a glimpse of your writing and may create new subscribers for your blog. Most will allow you to write a short profile about yourself along with your link to your site within the posts. This can be a great way to increase traffic from a totally different audience and boost your visits.
5. Promote, Promote, Promote
This is a no-brainer but still overlooked. Your readers who love your content don’t mind supporting you. The fact of the matter is you have to show them where you need the most support. This is where promotion comes in. You need to be doing the following each blog posts.
- Encourage your followers to join your mailing list 2. Ask for them to share your post on their social media 3. Encourage them to comment to engage them
This will give your readers a call to action. Most importantly it will give you the chance to get some free promotion. Don’t leave them hanging give back to your community. Hold some contests for the mosts shares, tweets, and mentions get something FREE. For instance, check Amazon for daily ideas on stuff. One of the things I did when I started my Facebook group I held a contest for a FREE Amazon Firestick. I gained over 300 new members in 1 week. This was insane and more then I may have gotten with Facebook Ads for the price. Give them some encouragement and they will go out. Everyone loves to win something FREE.
