Many people have this mindset of what entrepreneurs do all day. Many think you sit around in front of a computer and make money all day while waking up whenever. Some think many entrepreneurs stay up late playing video games or going out. Buying nice cars and doing cool stuff all day. The fact of the matter is its quite opposite in many of you think
Entrepreneurship is more than just running a business or a side hustle. It’s about being disciplined in what you do. With being an entrepreneur you don’t have anything that makes you commit to getting up at a certain time and doing things a certain way. These are things you must do in order to survive and be successful. Below I have generated 5 things entrepreneurs should do to be successful & stay disciplined.
Manage Your Time
Most successful people wake up at the same time every day. This allows you to create a habit but also get a jumpstart on your day. Sleeping in & hitting snooze until your finally awake 2 hours later is not professional. Most people when they work a Full-Time Job wake up on time to get to work a scheduled shift. Why should it be any different when you’re working for yourself? You can’t expect others to take you or your business seriously if you don’t. My rule of thumb if you don’t mind waking up at 9 am do 7 am. Go to the next level with all your commitments to see next level results.
Plan & Execute
Many times we think we will just start the day and see where it goes. This can set a bad habit because if you don’t have a plan for the day you won’t do stuff you should be doing. For instance, if your needing to get clients make a plan to contact 10 potential customers that you have sought out. Make a list and commit to calling them all before noon. If you say well we will just see how tomorrow goes. You may not make a single call to any prospect. Which in turn won’t allow you to generate any business. When you have a plan execute and watch your results trickle or sometimes even FLOOD in.
Improve Your Craft
Make a Point each week to learn more within your niche. For instance maybe read a book on something within your niche once a month. Attend a networking event with other like-minded entrepreneurs. Make a point to improve your knowledge and connections within your industry on a Monthly or even a weekly basis. I personally read at least 2 books minimum a month and attend at least 2 webinars, courses, or events each month. This allows me to network with other IT Professionals & learn more about my craft while doing it. This, in turn, will allow me to grow in my skillsets and receive more opportunities.
Celebrate Your Wins Daily
This to me is one of the most important things you can do daily. The reason why is it’s easy to get discouraged in your daily life. Maybe you’re working hard and not getting that promotion. Maybe you have given an amazing presentation to multiple prospects and lost out on that client. The thing is we seem to run into many brick walls as we are walking down the path to success. The thing you must do is celebrate your wins. So maybe you didn’t get that new promotion but celebrate the fact you were in the running for it.
Maybe you didn’t get that contract but celebrate the fact they allowed you to be considered. The thing you must understand is most people aren’t even getting on the phone with a prospect when you got a meeting with them. Most people aren’t getting called back for positions they are applying for when you are getting interviewed for them. Always know there is someone that’s looking to get in the position you are in. Don’t get discouraged because then you look back and that’s when the person behind you passes you. Stay in the race and keep your eye on the finish line. You’re closer than you think.
Make Sure Your Resting
When your first starting out your so motivated to do everything all at once. You’re trying to build your site, create your social media pages, get people to like and visit both and all the above. The thing is if you’re not getting enough rest your brain begins to work against you. It’s ok to put off some of those tasks for another day. The thing I have always seen is when you come back to something after some good rest your mind begins to be more creative. Don’t overlook the value of rest.
